How will we make digitalisation in real estate and OUR cities responsible, ethical and sustainable?
Humankind is crossing a threshold into a digitalised world, which will be transformational for real estate and cities. Digital technologies - from AI, artificial reality and autonomous vehicles, to blockchain, the internet of things and robotics - are being deployed rapidly and expansively .
Digitalisation offers extraordinary benefits, but it is a double-edged sword. As we pursue the opportunities we must also address the environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks it presents.
Crossing the Threshold is a primer to help industry and cities start taking action and leadership on sustainable digitalisation. It identifies 24 ESG opportunities and risks that will be materially consequential to many real estate and city stakeholders, and offers a framework for action to help organisations build capacity and provide industry leadership.
